KOOLCAL-96

Anti-corrosive/Inhibited Ethylene Glycol based Anti-Freeze Concentrate

KOOLCAL-96 is industrially inhibited ethylene glycol based heat transfer fluid. The fluid contains corrosion inhibitors that are specially formulated for HVAC systems to keep systems free of corrosion without fouling.
KOOLCAL-96 can be specified for use in new chilling systems, or as are placement fluid for use in existing
systems. Aqueous solutions of KOOLCAL-96 are designed to provide freeze/burst and corrosion protection, as well asefficient heat transfer, in water-based, closed-loop heating and air-conditioning systems.

Application Area

KOOLCAL-96 can be used for applications that require chemical intermediates for resins, solvent couplers, freezing point depression, solvents, humectants and chemical intermediates. These applications are vital to the manufacture of a wide range of products, including resins; de-icing fluids; heat transfer fluids; automotive antifreeze and coolants; water-based adhesives, latex paints and asphalt emulsions; electrolytic capacitors;
textile fibres; paper and leather.

Causes of Corrosion

Mono Ethylene glycol oxidises when exposed to air and heat resulting in formation of organic acids viz. Glycolic, Glyoxylic, Oxalic and Formic acid etc. These acids then chemically attack and corrode the system metal causing metal loss, pitting and pin whole etc. The corrosion rate of CO is a function of partial pressure, temperature, 2 Chloride presence of water and the type of material. There is no corrosion mechanism more damaging on a concentration basis than O – small amount of O , water 2 2and Chlorides can damage the pipe within a few months.
